1976 Stephen Gately born in Dublin.

1993 Joins Boyzone after being chosen by Louis Walsh from 400 other hopefuls. Hits include covers of the Osmonds’ Love Me For a Reason, Tracy Chapman’s Baby Can I Hold You and Cat Stevens’ Father And Son

1999 Gately reveals he is gay and in a relationship

2000 Boyzone break up. Releases his first solo single, A New Beginning . Album of the same name goes into the Top Ten.

2003 Stars in Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

2004 Plays the Childcatcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium

2006 Marries his partner Andrew Cowles in a civil ceremony

2007 Successful appearance in ITV’s Dancing on Ice. Reunites with Boyzone

I think it is heart-warming that the boyz had a vigil at his side last night. I'll be watching the service today. I have created a memorial to Stephen at Friends At Rest.
I hope that the service today will draw a line under this terrible incident and allow Stephen Gately's friends and colleagues to get on with their life. I also this signals the newspapers to truly let him rest in peace.

my shooting star

on the many times i met steo he never treated me as just a fan but as a friend. he and his family were always kind and generous although at times we must have drove them mad. i have many happy memories that will never leave me. my thoughts are with andrew and steves family. he is now that special star that watches over all of us. miss you steo and thanks xxxh
