Report this message By Julie McGowan on 3rd Dec 2008Maureen and Walter gave each other strength. They both suffered with a similar illness. They competed with each other. If Maureen could do something then Walter could do it too. They were two strong people.
We spoke alot about Walter and his life which was centered around his wife and children. Maureen's life also centered around her family.
I'll never forget the day Walter passed on, It brought a sadness to all of us and especially to Maureen. She survived a further two month. She passed on almost to the day.
Maureen is not here to pay her respects now. On her behalf and for all of our family, I would like to say a special thank you to Walters wife Mary, to Helen and to all of the family for your kindness and support over the past few years.
Rest in Peace Walter and Maureen.

Report this message By Alan Quirke on 28th Oct 2008Like everybody else, I bowed my head
during the consecration of the bread and wine,
lifted my eyes to the raised host and raised chalice,
believed (whatever it means) that a change occurred.
.................... ./..................
I went to the alter rails and received the mystery
on my tongue, returned to my place, shut my eyes fast,
made an act of thanksgiving, opened my eyes and felt time starting up again.
.................... ./..................
There was never a scene when I had it out with myself or with another.
My loss occurred off-stage.
And yet I cannot disavow words like "thanksgiving" or "host" or "communion bread".
They have an undying tremor and draw, like well water far down.
